Running Week in Review (22 February 2015)   5 comments

Last week here, and

Next week here

22 February run gaph

A fairly successful but uneventful week saw Tuesday doing the trip from work to Besselsleigh, Wednesday from Appleton to work with a Botley side trip and a River and Meadow finish, and the work runs rounded out with a lunch loop out the Mesopotamia Walk and around Marston.

Saturday, we were having some neighbours over for dinner so I did the run early making a loop to Franco and Anna’s to pick up some prosciutto crudo and a bottle of Vin Santo before continuing on to Morrison’s for the real shop.  Spent four hours lovingly prepping some ravioli stuffed with crab to start, biscotti to finish, and marinating salmon and fennel for mains (courgettes with olives and some broad bean purée on the side).  I had 5 bottles of wine to be sure there was enough and the visiting couple brought two but come Sunday morning it was all gone along with a serious amount of vodka and gin.  Wheeeeeee!

No one got cut, although my eyes were bleeding the next morning.

Sunday was the big run and I planned to go to a half marathon at Richmond Park (SW London) but realised I couldn’t make the start with my transport options and instead did 18 ½ miles mostly looping around Tooting, Wimbledon, Streatham, and Balham with brief fuelling stops at four pubs (JJ Moon’s and the Antelope in Tooting, the Holland Tringham in Streatham, and the Moon Under Water in Balham) and a chippy.

Next week is a fallback week with only 36 miles planned before the more advanced mileages start.  See you out on trail.

Great neighbourhoods in SW London...must return soon (thinking a day at the Tooting Bec Lido is in order for a Summer trip)
