Purton WMC

The rain was starting and I still had four miles to go to my bus stop so I had to deduce whether the rain would stop while I enjoyed a beer or should I just trundle on to minimize the soaking.  I decided to let the Purton Club bartender make that call for me as I was not a member of this WMC nor, indeed, of any since letting my Ferndale Club membership lapse but since most of these are actively recruiting new members one can usually weasel a guest waiver for a beer or two.

Inside was all nostalgia for me…the spitting image of a small town bar or, more to the point, of a small town in the Deep South American Legion Hall (which membership I have also allowed to lapse).  Kids running around chasing one another, friendly folks stopping by for a chat with the sweaty visitor: brilliant.  And, there were two ales on AND the rain abated during my half-hour visit.  What’s not to like?
