Bell Chalford Sign

The Bell is one of the most perfect locals I have stumbled into (and it is the 1352nd pub on this list, so that’s saying something).  While I was taking the photos, a guy manoeuvred past me on his way to the bar where he unfolded a massive order of fish and chips which he was sharing with the others.  Another guy came in and gave a bloke in a wheelchair some pesticide for his vegetables.  The music was all 50’s but better quality rockabilly and everyone seemed to know the tape by heart and occasionally were singing along; the marvelous last cut before I left, Raunchy, is still ringing in my ears a day later.  Friendly to a fault and funny the way only regulars at a bar can be without trying, the barkeeper and the punters made this a spectacular stop.
