Coal Hole London

Charlie Chaplin’s half-brother, Sydney, worked as a bartender at the Coal Hole while his more famous sibling was raking in millions as the Little Tramp. Jackie has been a lifelong fan of Charlie so when I spotted the Coal Hole a block away from our lunch stop we had to go in.

It is a gorgeous venue, too, with classical friezes around the walls and loads of natural light. Also, on this day we were treated to a bunch of fat pikeys and their screeching white trash offspring. Upstairs there is an elevated seating area suitable for 35 to 40 people but this scum party of 15 was spread out over the entire area and not policing their spawn in any way at all.

The bright spot was when one of these bright sparks (one of the adults, mind you) locked himself in the loo. The downside is it delayed their exit. Slapstick, eh?

Find it here (map link).
