Windmill, Portishead, Somerset   Leave a comment

Windmill Portishead sign

After the trip to Dismaland, I took advantage of the seaside location (okay, mouth-of-the-Severn, but brackish) to do a wee run along the stunning coastline around Portishead, the town centre of which is protected by a steep ridge from the battering winds coming across the narrow channel from Wales.  My starting point was the excellent Windmill Inn for a beer (many to choose from) and a change of clothing.

It is quite the modern building and Portishead seems an affluent town but the welcome is warm both in the town and the bar and the Fuller’s standard menu (which can be bleak) is eschewed for seafood and locally sourced walking creatures.  That’s Wales in the near distance and the view is probably fab in better weather.  Sunset is probably grand, too.  Here’s a map link.
