Kangaroo and Aussie Wine

“Get something different for supper.”  This is a difficult request when you have little imagination and limited shopping resources, but after a walk through the produce to come up virtually empty-handed (broccoli is one of only 3 or 4 green vegetables ever available around these parts) I spotted a wee game section in the butcher’s bins.  And, so it came to pass that a couple of quarter pound kangaroo cutlets hopped onto our plates.

We had some overcooked (but delicious) pinto beans I had planned to make burritos with, and shallots, garlic, and olives made the broccoli exotic.  The roo steaks were just flash fried and not too bad (not worth a trip to the outback, but yummy enough).

The only down side to this meal is the earworm you get (you would have to be a certain age to be afflicted, though…sorry in advance):
