My excitement at finding another place serving Lillie’s Cider in town was dampened by the £5.5o (wtf, North London Tavern?) price tag. Oh, well, When In Rome. I had £5.45 in change in the little film canister I use to keep coins from hiding in my backpack so I started digging around for some folding money.

“I haven’t seen one of those in years,” the adolescent bartender said indicating the film can. “I used to carry one around in school.”

“You carried your weed in there, didn’t you?” Sheepishly nodding, he said, “or, change.”

The afternoon was hot so all the streetside seats were taken but the ceiling fans inside made for a comfortable place to listen to some blues and (a guilty pleasure) some of that new R Kelly stuff (I have no shame). Folks spread out so they had a table between themselves and the next group with some even spreading across multiple tables. I have spent less relaxing evenings, for sure.

This was August 2016 Pub Per Day #31, so I have technically finished The Challenge. Carrying on until the end of the month….
