Union Tavern from canal

I was sweating my balls off along the Grand Union Canal when I spotted the beer garden of the Union Tavern … hooray! I entered the cool temperatures of this hipster paradise (uncool) and quickly settled on a Five Points Pale mainly because it made me think of Atlanta and how the urban wastelands there have also been stunk up by gentrification.

It was a perfect day out but I’m really averse to bright, direct sunlight so I squeezed into the last, shady refuge by the water and listened to a couple of American energy engineers talk about next generation solar cells.  Then, other tourists showed up (Brits, this time).  Over the course of the beer, I don’t think anyone local came in (they were probably at Angie’s around the corner, where I’ll go on a subsequent trip).
