Victoria, Bow, London   1 comment

The Victoria has 6 ales on the pumps but on my visit they also had 6 hipsters on a couch — not the definitive ‘six of one and half-dozen of the other’ but apt.  It wasn’t my first choice (as I mentioned in the run write-up, the Palm Tree was yet to open for the day), and I don’t see rushing back.  But, it is a functional ale house in a trendier than I expected neighbourhood (and, therefore, what a better informed reviewer would probably expect … like this other guy that didn’t get into the Palm Tree, either).

Could be worse, and despite wrinkling their noses at the thought of it, the hipsters gave me good directions to G Kelly’s Eel shop, my next stop.
