White Hart, Harlington, London   Leave a comment

The White Hart was a safe (and wise) bet for the A for Animals part of my London A to Z Run Friday.  I suspected correctly that the Red Lion was out of business and, not wanting to shortchange myself a pub on this trip (nor have to change the A from Animals to An Alternative, as similarly happened at the ex-Orwell) I dashed into this one and ordered up something light brown and bubbly from the light brown and bubbly bartender (possible B run…hmmm).

“Is it raining out,” she asked as my beverage settled.  “No, I just sweat profusely.”  “Ahh! You’ve been working out.”  Right and wrong at once.

It was sunset, although that’s hard to tell from the exterior photo.  Word has it a waitress that fell to her death in the cellar about this time of night back in the early 1900’s haunts the house but the sudden chill in the air as I finished the beer was probably due more to perspiration than an apparition (yikes, another A…spooky).
