Three Wishes, North Harrow, Middlesex   Leave a comment

The Three Wishes was busy but, even so, it is a much larger house than it looks from the street. So, I found a comfortable spot to sit on the hideously upholstered bench that lined the walls of the lower, front area. Oasis was playing on the sound system, followed by Elvis doing “Suspicious Minds,” then some torch singer I couldn’t place, then some Motown. Great mix, here.

They had Doom Bar but most of the fellows were quaffing lagers. The table nearest me was surrounded by really large, middle-aged thugs talking about the state of hooliganism at football matches they attended recently as visiting fans. It wasn’t clear if their descriptions of the Home Team Hooligans (welcoming committees) constituted complaint or critique, but the consensus seemed to be that it ain’t like in the good old days.

I am led to understand that the kitchen here does a splendid job.
