George IV, Chiswick, London   Leave a comment

The George IV is fairly nice if lock-jaw-edly upper middle class.  There were almost too many ales to choose from but I hankered for a bit of fresh air out on the mezzanine and opted for a mulled cider … a bit pricy at £3.50 for what seemed something between a half and a pint but warm and refreshing and perfect for the cool evening air.  The enamelled metal tankard is now part of the hot-bevvy-at-work rotation of mugs.

The guys I met there were waiting for someone to let them into the comedy club (also part of the pub but accessed through the back of the mezz).  They weren’t funny nor especially sharp tacks, so I reckon they were there to clean the place (they wouldn’t say why they were there, even to the gatekeeper).
