Dove, Hammersmith, London   2 comments

On the north shore of the Thames just west of the Hammersmith Bridge sits the Dove.  ‘Rule Britannia’ was written here and, much later, it was a pre-Raphaelite hangout; I came to it on a jog around the Thames Path but it is still kind of out-of-the-way (here’s a map).

The riverside seating seemed to be filled with diners and the atmosphere was fairly posh except for me and the old fellow in the front bar with me. And, by posh I mean that sort of upper middle-class posh that you get in England such that the woman at the bar here might actually NOT be a lesbian, nay, she just likes the butch-on-the-pull look:

Worth a visit, if you are in the area but Hammersmith is spoilt for choice when it comes to overpriced ale houses.
