The Pommelers Rest   1 comment

Pub #2057:

“Have you been running?” the bartender at the Pommeler’s Rest asked in a heavy Italian (or very similar) accent — he is the guy in the tie, above, and spotted me as I approached the building. I answered that I had been and he continued, “from where?”

Started at Liverpool Street and following the Tube and Overground Lines.” I explained the basics of the TfL Run Project and the day’s route so far up to the Wapping-to-Rotherhithe bit.

“How did you cross the river?”
“Rotherhithe Tunnel.”
“You RAN through that?” I grinned and nodded, sipping my beer and thinking that surely he can smell the car exhaust emanating from me. “That cannot be healthy,” he pointed out. I grimly shook my head, no; then, I moved on to find a quiet space near a window to plot out the remaining trail.
