The Capitol, Forest Hill, London   Leave a comment

Pub #2059:

The run continued after the dreadful Surrey Docks pub (Sorry Ducks?) visit and I found myself less than a mile from my planned finish with the scent of another Wetherspoons drawing me across the tracks. And, there it was: The Capitol, a 1920s movie palace — from the silent era until the late 1970s before conversion to a Bingo hall and, as is the normal path of decay for houses dedicated to the dramatic arts (cinemas, theatres, churches, etc), a discount bar.

There are some fantastic features to this place and worth a stop by when you are in the neighbourhood.  Much better preserved than the Savoy seemed to be.

Be warned: children are allowed until much later than they should be.  The little shits run wild late on a Friday afternoon.
