Rising Sun, Lewisham, London   Leave a comment

Pub #2074:

I rarely make it to Lewisham because I live in the remote northwest edge of the M25 amoeba.  So, while finishing up the last segment of the TfL Run Project, I HAD to stop for a beer somewhere.  The Rising Sun seemed — and still seems — like a fine choice.  I ordered a lager and handed the barman some coins but with my sweaty spectacles I mistook a 10p for a 50p and shorted him, which he pointed out straight away.  “Worth a punt, eh?”

“Everyone tries that at least once,” he agreed without any outward malice.

The Cheltenham Festival was on one tele and a flat-track horsing venue on another but the real show was the confetti of losing tickets at the end of each race.  Decent bar, friendly denizens.  Go.
