The Wheatsheaf and Pigeon, Staines-upon-Thames, Surrey   Leave a comment

Pub #2084:

A quick tour of the pedestrianised shopping area of Staines preceded a long segment of the Thames Path.  The workers statue looks ripe for a rude caption like,”oi, darling! It takes two of us to carry my pipe.”

At the residential outer limits of Staines, I turned back inland from the muddy Thames Path to take a break at the Wheatsheaf and Pigeon as much for the name of the pub as anything else. Somehow, I got into a conversation about fishing with a Frenchman.  There may have been more interesting topics at the other grouping of regulars, but I was happy with my choice (not least because a hashing song to the tune of Le Marseillaise got stuck in my head for the next leg of the run).
