The Bird in Hand, Princes Risborough, Buckhinghamshire   Leave a comment

Pub #2117:

There were several pubs I had earlier planned to go to in Princes Risborough, but stumbling upon the Lions of Bledlow threw my scheduling out of whack and in order to catch my preferred train I would have to opt for the Bird in Hand because it is closer to the station than the other 3 in town.  There is nothing wrong with the Bird in Hand, mind you, and the others may have been absolutely shit; but, that I found myself awaiting some cleverly named pint of, essentially, Greene King IPA in here was more chance than design.

It was another night of football on tele and the bar went from empty to nearly overcrowded in a half hour.  I even saw three of the hooligans from the previous pub entering as I exited to dash off on my last leg of the run.   One of them asked, incredulously, “have you been running pub-to-pub?”

I belched and answered, “no…that would be stupid,” and sped off recklessly across traffic.
